Jan 16, 2023
What you are thinking and feeling:
- I really want to be all that you have been called and created to be.
- I want to live out and fulfill your purpose.
- I am feeling a push internally to pursue more in life.
Before you start doing, you have to become the person required for your desire to be a reality. The place you must start and area you must first give attention to is your Spiritual Fitness. This core area determine how everything else manifest and is carried out in your life. Let's discuss what Spiritual Fitness is, what it is not, and tips on how to become more spiritually fit.
Let’s begin with what Spiritual Fitness is not.
Spiritual fitness is not...
- A checklist of spiritual things to complete daily and weekly
- The goal isn’t to do it to say you did it.
- Spiritual fitness tasks we tend to treat as checklist items:
- Daily Devotional
- Reading Bible
- Praying
- Fasting
- Going to church or attending bible study
- Serving
- Tithing
- And a number of other spiritual activity
- An area you can neglect and think you will be all of who you are called and created to be
- Occasional pursuit
- Not a segmented aspect of your life
- Not a morning or devotional time moment
- Accidental pursuit
- Individual only pursuit (living in isolation)
- Group only pursuit
- Not something you can do or pursue in your own strength
- Putting Him in boxes throughout your day
Spiritual fitness is...
- A daily pursuit of a deeper intimacy with God.
- Reading your bible, praying, fasting, worshipping, taking sabbaths, fellowshipping with other believers (church or gathering) out your love for God and not out of duty. The reward of spiritual fitness is deeper intimacy with God, not a spiritual performance trophy.
- A pursuit that comes from your oneness with the trinity and your obedience to the Holy Spirit on the inside of you as you are led by Him.
- An intentional pursuit that is focused on progress and not perfection.
- Communing with the Lord throughout your day
- Being a functional part of the body of Christ.
How Fit Are You Spiritually? Things to consider:
- Time with the Lord (praying and listening).
