Raise Your Expectations

expectations Jul 17, 2023

Raise your expectations! Stop living like all that you see is all you will see!

Choosing not to raise your expectations by default leads to a slow process of lowering your expectations, which negatively affects your pursuit of what God has instructed you to advance towards. Raising your expectations requires intentional effort. It forces you to see beyond the natural.

Raising your expectations is an intentional act of increasing your faith. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence os things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1).

What are you still hoping for? What did God tell you? What has He spoken to you? What has He shown you? Do you have faith that it will come to pass even though you have not seen it yet? "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is the tree of life" (Proverbs 13:12). We know that God is faithful to fulfill what He promised.

No matter what your circumstances look like right now, increase your expectations! Believe for greater. Expect more! He can do exceedingly more than what we can imagine, ask, or think (Ephesians 3:20) but we must remember faith without works is dead (James 2:26). Don't let your faith die! What "work" or instructions has He given you that you have not yet completed? Obey and watch your faith and expectation increase!

Spiritually: The greater your intimacy with God, the more likely your expectations will increase. Raise your expectation by spending more time in the Word. There are many examples in what He has spoken that will increase your faith. Increase your time with Him in His presence. Partner with the Holy Spirit to see an increase in your faith and expectations.

Mentally: You can't raise your expectations if you are stuck in disbelief. Be mindful of what you are listening to and what you dwell on in your mind. Your belief system affects your level of expectation. Faith is attached to your belief. You can hear truth but you have to choose to believe and accept it. Covert God's promises and words He has spoken to you into declarations.

Physically: How you care for your body communicates the level of your expectation. If you are not caring for yourself by staying hydrated, exercising, eating nutritious meals, and getting adequate rest, you are not living a life that is expecting to experience increase and receive that which the Lord has promised. Raise your expectations by preparing your body for what is to come.

Organize The Chaos: One way to raise your expectations is to make room for what you expect to see and/or receive. You can't receive or walk into greater if you are already full and have no capacity to properly steward more. Whether it is in your schedule, physical space, or life in general raise your expectation by making room!

God's plans for you are good but they are not guaranteed. Raise your expectations and do what is required to have the posture to receive all that He has for you.
